Bell’s Hopslam is just “one of those beers.” Its yearly release is met with release parties, lines and social media pictures galore. Chances are, if you are reading this post, you already know what Hopslam is all about. However, if by some chance this whole Hopslam-mania is new to you, here is a quick rundown:
- It’s a Double IPA
- Six different hops are used in the making of Hopslam
- Expect bitterness, big citrus notes (grapefruit) and a big, floral aroma.
- It’s 10% ABV
But, to truly understand Hopslam, one must drink Hopslam. There are eight places (at least) ready to help you in that endeavor from Jan 15 – Jan 24.

Selected specifically because of their aromatic qualities, these Pacific Northwest varieties contribute a pungent blend of grapefruit, stone fruit and floral notes. A generous malt bill and a solid dollop of honey provide just enough body to keep the balance in check, resulting in a remarkably drinkable rendition of the Double India Pale Ale style.
