Schlafly Beer’s Art Outside Fest Returns with New Alternative Attractions to Schlafly Bottle works, 9/6- 9/8.

The family-friendly festival celebrating art and music returns to Maplewood with more than 60 local artists, new interactive experiences, a specialty release beer can, and more

Sure, it’s Oktoberfest and Pumpkin-beer season, something St Louis’ Schlafly Beer knows all too well, but it’s also time for its annual Art Outside Festival (9/6 – 9/9 at the brewery’s Bottleworks location (7260 Southwest Ave, Maplewood, MO 63143). The free, alternative art fair “aims to raise awareness of art and music in the community, by featuring unique artwork made by local artists including ceramics, wood working, paintings, photography, and more.”

In addition to the 60+ local artists, Schlafly Beer has added additional attractions in 2024 such as live painting and glass blowing. Attractions include:

  • Artists First Creation Station with tie-dye or spray paint your own t-shirt (pay for shirt & painting), legal graffiti, and Swifties friendship bracelet-making station *
  • Artists First Row with face painter Jordan Simpson*
  • Tarot Card Readings from Tarot with Anna Felixidocious*
  • Henna Artist Megan Naik of Rani Henna STL*
  • Live painting from Michael Kraichely of Biorhythmic Artwork all weekend long
  • Glass Blower: Benjamin Cornwell of Bcglassworx

*indicated additional fee to experience

In addition to the local artists (all from within 125 miles of St. Louis) selling and presenting their work, attendees can enjoy plenty of food, music, and a special Schlafly beer. Indeed, Schlafly has collaborated with their Maplewood neighbor, a local, non-profit group named Artists First, to design a special beer can for the festival.

The Schlafly AF beer will be a 16-ounce can of Kӧlsch, featuring a design from the artists with disabilities at Artists First, and a portion of sales from the beer will go back to the organization

“We started Art Outside to be an alternative art fair, which highlighted local artists’ incredible talents and allowed attendees to be able to purchase their work at affordable prices. We wanted to lean into that alternative experience more this year with interactive art experiences in a family-friendly environment.  There’s more to explore than ever at Art Outside this year,” says CEO David Schlafly. “I am very proud to be a part of the Maplewood community, and Art Outside showcases what makes our community great – music, art, and great beer.”
