Summer Beer, Cocktails, Patios and Fests

Summer beer. Outdoor Fests. Refreshing Drinks and Great Patios. It’s all here!

One issue associated with freelance writing is that my articles tend to simultaneously appear in various locations, so this blog post intends to consolidate some of my work. For this particular post, I provide you with a  few links to my recent summer-focused pieces  — there  are so many ways to enjoy summer drinking! Let me take you on a journey to imbibe nirvana.

Summer Beers (and Burgers)

Are you looking for a good summer beer? Try the Blood Orange Blonde Ale  from Anchor Brewing, in San Francisco —  one of the pioneers of craft brewing!  I wrote about the beer for PorchDrinking.com

Speaking of San Francisco, and also Blood Orange, 21st Amendment Brewery has produced one of the best fruity IPAs around with its  Brew Free! or Die Blood Orange IPA, which I also reviewed for PorchDrinking.com.

Meanwhile, for Manscore.com, I composed a piece on the many tropical IPAs one could consume, and paired them with a good burger. Six beers, six burgers. How’s that for summer fun?

If you like to stick to one brewery, may I recommend the many summer beers offered by Schlafly Brewing in St. Louis? Easily found in Chicago, there are many types of offerings perfect for summer sipping.  I wrote this Schlafly 6er for PorchDrinking.

Maybe a Radler is more your speed for the summer. A radler is part beer, part cocktail — and one of the best comes from Austria’s Stiegl Brewery. I wrote about the brewery’s Lemon Zitrone Radler for PorchDrinking.com in late May.

Maybe you’d prefer something less fruity, but still good for the summer. If so, the Burnt City Brewing – Art Institute of Chicago collaboration  that I wrote about for PorchDrinking.com is something to behold.  Burnt City developed a sessionable IPA that payed homage to the Art Institute’s summer exhibit Gauguin: Artist as Alchemist, which runs June 25 through September 10, 2017.

Rooftops, Patios, and Outdoor Drinking

Sometimes it’s not about what you drink as much as where you drink. For Manscore, I composed a list of some of the city’s best cocktails and brews with a view.

Summer Fest – Music, Beer, Food, and Family Fun.

For Porchdrinking, I took the time to preview the Square Roots Festival in Ravenswood/Lincoln Square, July 7, 8, 9. What a terrific event!
